How To Make Nice With The Media

Being “media friendly” means being responsive and respectful. Reporters work under strict deadlines that have to be met. Time frames can also be in hours instead of days in this age of the internet and 24-hour broadcasts.

Working with reporters isn’t just about returning phone calls, it’s also knowing when to make them. Knowing the outlet’s planning and deadline times increases your chances for getting client placement, and also helps you avoid what happened to one London communications firm.

The Evening Standard was so angered over the number of phone calls it had received from Rain Communications, that it recently published the above image for all to see. I imagine after reading that, the deluge stopped.
