They always say that a creative and functional office can set the tone for a company as such an environment can leave employees more inspired and productive. We at z2 agree, which is why we shared our designs with the Milwaukee Business Journal for their new series, “Milwaukee’s Coolest Offices.”

So, jump in and enjoy a brief tour of our favorite spots of the place we have called home since October 2013.

The Café

z2 Cafe

Some days we just need to get out of our offices for a bit of inspiration. We head to the communal area, the café, for a change of scenery. The area is filled with couches, tables and a fireplace, all of which provide for ample meeting space or a quaint working space. And of course we had to add the Martini Bar so we could enjoy a z2 favorite – Cosmo Fridays. We like to unwind from a stressful week by shutting down at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoons and indulging in some of our favorite snacks and drinks.

z2 Fitness

z2 Fitness
Too many deadlines to meet in too little time? No problem. We sweat out the stress in our fitness studio. The 3,500-square-foot fitness studio has a treadmill, elliptical and circuit training equipment, and group classes are also available throughout the week to add a bit of variety.

The Kitchen

z2 Kitchen

We can’t function without food so we have a full-service kitchen available for clients and employees. It is conveniently located next to the photo studio with a window so that we can provide craft services to clients if necessary. For random parties and national holidays (i.e. National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day) we use the kitchen to bake cookies and egg bakes, burn some bacon, etc.

The Studios

z2 Photo Studio

Two added conveniences for our clients and us are our photo and recording studios. With the ability to record radio pieces and voice-overs, or shoot photos and videos on site, z2 has a definite one-up. Having access to these spaces allows us to develop killer content for clients or whip something up for our own social media purposes. It’s kind of like having our very own photo booth, but better.

z2 Marketing is pleased to welcome Katie Scott to our team as an Account Executive. An alumna of Carroll College, Katie’s addition brings our staff total to an all-time high of 20.

With seven-and-a-half years of experience, Katie joins us from The Roberts Group where she focused strictly on healthcare marketing. During her time there she had the opportunity to work with affiliations of nationally recognized healthcare organizations such as MD Anderson Cancer Center and Cleveland Clinic.

When she isn’t at the office you can find Katie rooting for the Brewers at Miller Park, vacationing in Wisconsin favorite Minocqua, dining at local restaurants, working out, splurging on QVC’s finest offerings, or spending quality time with her boyfriend, Brandon, and their fur baby Great Dane, Victor.

She also likes to boast that Clay Matthews is her husband, but we have not been able to confirm this.

We’re excited to announce our staff has recently grown significantly. The addition of these six new z2-ers brings our total number of employees up to 18—our all-time high in 10 years. And we have to say, we’ve added some extremely talented new team members.

Ewan O’Donnell – Senior Account Executive

A native of Scotland, Ewan most recently worked as an account supervisor at GMR Marketing on the Pepsico account. Over the past six years, he’s also worked with big names like Amazon, Gerber, and Ford UK—plus some major whisky brands and retailers in Scotland (he’s a big fan of whiskey).

In his spare time, Ewan coaches the Muskego High School Rugby team, and is also an assistant coach for the Wisconsin Select team. He enjoys mountain biking, golf, rugby and weight lifting. He and his wife, Allison—who’s responsible for bringing him to the States—have two dogs, Ghillie and Maisie.

Jonathan Warobick – Art Director

Jonathan joins us from Company B Branding & Marketing where he worked with well-known, local hospitality clients like Black Sheep Wine Tap Bar, The Iron Horse Hotel, Wolf Peach, and Stack’d Burger Bar. A graduate of Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), Jonathan now teaches there part-time.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys hanging out with his miniature English bull terrier, Ian, and creating art for various local events. He prides himself on being a big Mac & Cheese aficionado, and claims Triskele’s offers the best in town.

Scott Wexler – Copywriter

A rising star in the branding industry, Scott most recently worked at Image Makers Advertising in Waukesha. A graduate of the University of Missouri, his spare time is usually spent at Miller Park, where he has a part-time gig in promotions. He loves baseball, and the opportunity to spend time at the ballpark is something he never takes for granted.

Fun fact: Deb worked for Scott’s dad at WTMJ when Scott was just a little tike.

Kristina Kleinschmidt – Account Coordinator

Kristina has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including residential housing, banking, entertainment, and healthcare. A proud UW—Madison alum, her most recent position was with Mortenson Safar Kim.

Outside of work, Kristina enjoys traveling, snowboarding, concerts, beer, hanging out with friends, being on/in the water, and attending sporting events. She recently became an aunt and is the momma to a kitty named Binx.

Ashley Ruggierello – Graphic Designer

Before joining z2, Ashley worked at bvk, where she designed for United Vacations/Southwest Vacations/Funjet Vacations, Citgo Light Oils and Lubricants, and the Maine Office of Tourism. She’s a graduate of Michigan State University.

Ashley enjoys reading and writing Young Adult/New Adult fiction, attempting to sing karaoke, playing video games, pretending to enjoy running, watching as many horror movies as possible, and eating… a lot. She has a husband, Zak, puppy named Furler, and a kitten named Dexter (who’s a girl). Next time you see her, ask her to do one of her two famous impressions—Yoshi (from Super Mario) and Navi (from The Legend of Zelda).

Jennifer (Jen) Bachmann – Office Manager/Administrative Assistant

Jen joins z2 from the non-profit world, where she spent several years fundraising, planning special events, performing administration work, and more. She’s a graduate of Carroll College, where she majored in Organizational Communication.

In her free time, you can find Jen gardening, hiking, swimming, cooking, and exploring new places with her husband, Mike, and two-year old son, Walker. She has two active yellow labs, Gracie and Beretta.

Telly Time!

Telly Awards

It’s that time of year again—the 2014 Tellys have been announced! We’re proud to have received five more awards this year, including one Silver Telly—the program’s highest honor!

Z2 has won many Telly awards over the years, and we’re excited to add to our collection. We received a Silver Telly this year for a music video we shot with Radio Disney Star Shealeigh for her song, “Be Kind.” Shealeigh has been generous enough to donate all proceeds from the song to Z2’s charity, This Time Tomorrow Foundation.

Our 2013 This Time Tomorrow music video, featuring Milwaukee’s own I’m Not a Pilot and Hollywood actor C. Thomas Howell, won two Bronze Telly awards, in the categories of music video and cinematography. All the proceeds from this song were donated, as well.

Another rewarding project we tackled in 2013 was a 22-minute documentary on the history of The Pfister Hotel. It also won a Bronze Telly.

Finally, we received a Bronze Telly for a really fun sales video we put together for our client, Zero Zone. Check out the Sherlock Holmes theme.

We’re so proud of these accomplishments, and can’t wait to see what the next year brings!
