Self-Portraits Painted

Self Portrait

Self-portraits, digital cameras, and the Internet go together like… well, like things that go together. There’s even something called “GPOYW” which stands for Gratuitous Picture Of Yourself Wednesday.

If you remember the post titled Send Me Your Head, this is somewhat similar…

No matter how much I love the world of digital imaging, there’s still something magical about the created-by-hand paintings that people are able to produce. And I love the way something created using digital media is brought back to the old analog media of painting.

Check out Enda O’Donoghue’s web site for more of his work.

Being a group of designers and creatives, we’re also art lovers, and we like good ideas and inspiring projects… so seeing Karen Schmidt paint these 3″ x 3″ portraits of people she connects with via the Internet is a neat thing.

Here’s her pitch “I’m working on a project that requires me to paint many 3″ x 3″ portraits, so I’m soliciting headshots from everyone.”

We like it… you can find out more at sendmeyourhead.com
